Wilton Center Loop
Norwalk Valley River Trail (NRVT), Wilton, CT
Trail Type: Biking, Walking, Running
In collaboration with the Friends of the NRVT and the Town of Wilton, Timber & Stone, LLC developed a comprehensive trail design for the four-mile Wilton Center Loop Trail. This section of trail is part of the ambitious NRVT project—a 38-mile multi-use trail that traverses five Connecticut towns. In the spring of 2014, the construction of a half-mile of 10’ wide naturally surfaced demonstration trail was completed.
Pathways in high-use, “frontcountry” settings, such as this need to consider the safety of multiple users traveling in opposite directions along any point in the trail. The width, grade, structures, and surfacing on this trail were designed and constructed to fulfill this demand. A 160’ elevated Black Locust boardwalk that passes over a wetland is the technical construction centerpiece.
